The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs promotes Taiwan OTOP (One Town one Product) and to set up the first OTOP cabinet at the Singapore Takashimaya Department Store. Since 2013, Taiwan OTOP products have been regularly scheduled for sales activities at the store and are beloved by the Singaporeans. For serving more Singapore consumers, SMEA engages the most popular tea life series of Taiwan OTOP products to bring more complete experience and service.
Taiwan OTOP specializes in all aspects of tea industry and art, and has obtained the 'Hidden treasure of the east', which indicates three tea prizes, including the best making, the best baking and the highest quality. Combining Taiwan tea with the traditional Jing sheng Yu and The Shu-s Pottery, which inherits Taiwanese ceramics techniques and makes new creations, in order to provide a smooth and complete experience and regain the original spirit of Taiwan OTOP, allowing people to experience the tea culture of Taiwan also in Singapore.
Wen-Ling Su, Deputy Director General of Taiwan Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, claimed that SMEA has long promoted the OTOP program to promote the development of local characteristic industries. Tea, ceramics, glass, etc. are all extremely representative products of Taiwan. Taiwan's SMEA has been devoting to create these cultural product brands to have them sold to overseas markets. Since 2013, the OTOP product has been extended to a variety of life industry theme in Singapore with the main theme of tea life. This year, the opening of OTOP cabinet shows the love and affirmation of the OTOP product in the Singapore market. It also produces a long-term business opportunity for local characteristic products.
Steven Tai, Deputy Representative of Taipei Representative Office in Singapore indicated that the development of OTOP started from domestic needs, and then the industry developed further to meet needs from overseas. The OTOP food souvenir brings a variety of distinctive products to the Singaporeans. We welcome the Singaporeans to participate in the souvenir to choose among the special products and to personally experience.
According to Wei-Wu Yuan, Assistant Vice President, Dept. of Urban & Rural Synergy, Corporate Synergy Development Center, the Food souvenir brings a variety of OTOP products each year, including specialty foods such as herbal jelly, black fungus drinks, red quinoa cereal bars and so on. At the same time, it is expected that the OTOP cabinet will be able to successfully influence the brand name of OTOP, so that the Singaporeans can fully experience the township of Taiwanese people.
Abdul Halim Manaf, senior manager of the food department of the Singapore Takashimaya department store, said that the people of Singapore are very fond of Taiwanese products. The OTOP sales activity in Taiwan has brought amazing products and experiences every year. The coming of OTOP cabinet has not only a positive influence of the sales of the Singapore Takashimaya department store, it also helps to locate the brand level of the store.
The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs brings exquisite specialty products each year. This year, 14 OTOP specialty producing companies are invited to participate in the Taiwan Food Souvenir for two weeks at the B2 level of the Takashimaya department store. From October 22 to November 4, we let the Singaporeans to taste the good Wen&Cheng Honey from Kaohsiung's Dagang Mountain, the good green tea of Taipei Dadaocheng's Caoly Tea, the herbal jelly of Changhua's 100-year-old Yuanlin foodies, the Super food--red quinoa cereal bars of DJULIS in Taitung, and various kinds of vanilla vinegar of the Yunlin Herbs Family. All are of great excellence and chosen among thousands.
OTOP focusing on industries with historical, cultural, unique characteristics and other specialties, use of local cultural characteristics, enhance the added value of the industry. Since 2008, SMEA has promoted OTOP products with national disputes to the international market, and has continued to introduce special products from Taiwan to the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Philippines and Hong Kong.
